I have recently been checking some of the serps for keywords that are relevant for our entire site. I have been finding a lot of keyword stuffing in the top ten results. The big change and the way some of the sites have been getting around it is by not using the same color as the background.

For example, I reported one site today that had a white background, yet its keywords text was in a different shade of white and in the smallest font possible. It’s obvious that if the HTML source code has keywords in the same color code as the background, Google is very good at finding those sites. Google is struggling to find those slightly off shades though.

The first site we reported was completely out of the google index in three days. We reported it via webmaster tools and the regular spam reports in Google. So, it would be wise if you take a look at your keywords in Google and check the source code of each result all the way to your result. It’s always nice when you can catch a competitor cheating and gain his spot in the serps for the extra traffic during the Christmas Shopping Season.

Keep the employees busy at Google who look at the spam reports and the whole web will become a little better.
