Hi!

My Domain was in the index for about 2 Yeras. Many clean incoming Links, good Positions.

Today, the Positions are gone, the example.com has disappeared. No Cache anymore but still the same PR of 6. With site:example.com I can see now example.com/index.htm?
What could be the Problem?

Thank You, Tom

now, i noticed, that the DNS server was down for 1 1/2 days.
2 days later the problem came up. Until now there was no data refresh. could this be the problem? the main domain example.com was not reachable and the cache date from example.com/index.htm was from 24. october.

Tom,

Are you in a highly competitive field? Possibly one of your competitors linking to you in odd ways to try and hurt you as well? We redirect our indices to / to avoid this AND we redirect our IP addy to / AND non-www to www as a result of our competitors trying to hurt us this way.

But, possibly it could have only been that your DNS was down for that long as Google does NOT like unstable sites for sure...

I had this happen when we installed google analytics. it asks you what the home page (official page .. like index.html) is. And for some crazy reason it started spidering that directly even though we have never linked directly to that file.

I was scared to death we were going to get dupe content penalties.

Last week my Ranking dropped too, after analysis I noticed that G has indexed my index page with 2 different URL one shows www.mysite.com/ and other www.mysite.com/index.asp.

I am seeing this since a week now, I guess its Google issue and moreover both url pages are in regular Google Index, if I am not wrong one url should go into supplemental as G indexed the same page with two different URL.
