If I sell some content, will the buyer get a duplicate content penalty?

I have some content that I'd like to sell, and I'd like to offer snippets of the articles as samples. Is this going to create a duplicate content problem? Would Google penalize the purchaser of the content if it recognizes the snippet from my site?

If Google recognized the two articles were the same, it would probably only show one of them. Could be yours, could be theirs. No need to show the same thing twice......

It's a fairly safe bet that if you entered noindex nofollow meta tags on those pages and blocked access to them via robots txt, google would never penalize. Also, if you are putting 5% of the content from an article in a snippet, I seriously doubt that would trigger anything. If you use copyscape, you can find so many pages that have 20% or more without being any where near a duplicate page. just coincidence.
I think you have to get on up there in percentages but I wouldn't test it. I would keep it a small snippet.
