Keyword Listed On Too Many Pages

Could that cause a duplicate issue?

Is it possible that Google would penalize you for a certain keyword and drop your pages into supplemental results if that specific keyword is listed on much too many pages?

We have some major keywords that are listed on many pages, each page of course has unique contents and unique meta information.

When I do a search for site:www.example.com "widgets" a results of 531 url's would come up and each pages has the keyword "widgets" on thier, it's either in the contents or in the meta tags?

Could that be a possible duplicate issue with Google?

I doubt that would cause duplication issue. In my experience, repetition of a keyword on every page (in moderate and user legible amounts) is a good indicator to Google that this website focuses and deals with subject related to that keyword and would rank you better for anything involving that keyword and it's variations.

Make sure however that each page on your site deals with a unique issue revolving around the keyword.
