Ok, so i read about the "refresh" in October, and read bout the
-30 SERP penalty for spammers....

but now i have software resellers passing my company by in the SERPs and cant figure out why? I have abided by the Google Guidelines, i have fixed almost all of my 404 errors, i have been working on giving each page a unique title...yes my content is relevant to our site....we sell accounting software. H1's are good...i removed a duplicate content issue i had...

so whats the deal?

i was ranked #3 about 1 month ago!

today #7.

Ah yes, did you do something about the page after page of duplicate titles, descriptions, and key words and page content?

Probably a case of increased competition

#1 through #6 are better.

Do you think they have been sleeping?

See why they are better. Forget about SEO myths. Put yourself in the shoes of a customer. Why are they better?

well Google happen to crawl my page as of 11/6, and saw the modifications i made and i am now back up to #4...so im good for the meantime. #1 for my keyword is a billion dollar company, so i dont think ill ever get that spot, 2-3 are direct resellers who probobly have a million incoming links and i cant beat that....

although i have been up to #3 once, for about a week...im sure i can do it again. #2 is in my sights...

thanks all...ill quit whining about my rankings..

I think when a website goes into the top10 in google serps, there is much less effort to be made to beat the competitors.

Analysing 1~10 sites size, content, keyword relevancy, keyword stuffing percentage, meta tags, etc.. is an easy task and would lead to much informations which you could use to rank better.

Getting your site from the top100 to the top10 is another story!
