we are in the process of redesigning our existing website, which currently ranks well for our targeted keyword phrases.

in the redesign, we are implementing a cms, and will be changing some urls and renaming some of the pages. at the same time, some pages will keep their url and their page name.

along with the redesign, we will also update and improve much of the content on our site.

for the pages that are getting new urls/names, we will assign permanent 301 redirects.

how should this impact our rankings, both for the pages that get to keep their urls/name, and for those who don't?

thanks!

Just finished with such a redesign about 4 weeks back. Traffic wobbled just a bit overall, but because the redesign was on solid ground, that traffic converted better and sales were constant and now begin to rise. The new URLs took a bit of time to begin to begin to rank, and the unchanged URLs actually improved immediately after they were first spidered.

Sounds like you're doing all the things. Just kick all the tires very hard and from all angles before you launch.
