Number of Google search results goes down

Datacentre - 64.233.183.104 - on some terms that I track ( all mainstream product related) I have noticed that the number of reported results has gone down by about 30% since yesterday on both the .com and .co.uk results set. Some big tidy up going on?

I have also seen lots of search terms where the reported results are say about 1.5 million BUT google only manages to get to a few hundred before you have to repeat the search with the omitted results included.

This has been great for my site as I am one of the fortunate few whose results are actually visible! Anyone else noticed this new cut down version?
