How does Google handle date and number ranges?

Does it understand 1995-2000 includes 1997?

Searched for this, but couldn't find anything about it. Does Google understand a date range in page titles? I have some pages that are broken down by specific year ranges, and others alphabetically, like A-C, D-F, etc., does Google understand that the A-C page would also include B? If not, how would you recommend changing it?

A-B-C? 1995-1996-1997, etc.?

I don't think they understand that.

Would anyone be searching for "widget B" anyway?

What if you had a listing of popular Widget models broken down by model number range?

Widget 1000-1500
Widget 1501-2000

Red Widget 2400-2450
Red Widget 3400-3450

etc.

Nope.

They only see the text that is there.
