Click distance from Home Page and deep indexing

We have currently problems to get more of our pages into the G index. Now I realized that only pages are indexed which are 1 or 2 clicks away from our homepage. All pages > 2 clicks are not indexed!

The crawler take these pages but they are not indexed. I heard that the indexing depth depends on the PR of the site!? The PR of our Homepage is now 6 after the update. Currently it is no solution to build more sitemap pages.

What are your experiences? How can I get more pages indexed?

Have you tried bread-crumb navigation?

It is effective for both visitors and bots.

yes, we use breadcrump, and we use links to "similar products" and sitemap. currently we have 5.000 pages in the index and we get 10.000 visits of the bot per day.
