Finding site in SERPs - How to automate?

Last week my site was on page 1, today I've scrolled up to page 8 at 100 results per page, but can't find it. (Heard that somewhere before!) Can anyone suggest a simple tool or method that would quickly tell me which SERP we are on for a particular keyword day to day?

The Query Stats page in Google Webmaster Tools has us at "Average top position" of 197 for the keyword, but that has never matched what I see in the results.

Most search engines (like Google) tell you in the Referer: field what page of the search results the hit was on. Analyzing this field can tell you things like "I was on page 1 for 20% of queries for term X today, and page 2 for 80%", something you can't really get from the typical "keyword ranking tool".

Of course, this technique won't tell you anything about how you're ranking for things that absolutely nobody is clicking on. However, I suspect most webmasters would be better off if they focused on actual user data instead of what keyword analysis tools that directly query Google tell them about what might be... someday.

I too would like to find a method to Finding MY SITE in SERPs (How to automate) without using the mouse to scroll; click next page; scroll; scan (eyestrain); etc.

My site will often not be on the first page, but I at least like to know if it is there somewhere and which result number it is ... 50, 350, ...

Hi Ronburk, You said this before , but I can't find this data either in Webtrends or google analytics

Do you get it from the raw logs, if so can I get it off the server using ServerVariables
