PR still 0 for a site I registered in August -- even after this PR update

I think the PR values in the google toolbar were updated on 28th Sep. Unfortunately, the update was not so good for me.

I have a site with around 120 pages of which around 100 are indexed by google.

Three links to my site are from a site with PR 7. This is a subdomain on sourceforge.net. This site has only 7 pages... out of which 3 link to my site. These links are around 1.5 months old... all indexed. There are a few more links... from directories.

I expected the PR of my site to rise but it didn't happen. My site still has a PR of 0.

My domain was registered in the first week of August this year.

I have never used any blackhat techniques.

What can be the probable reason of 0 PR values?

Thanks!

the PR you see in the toolbar is pretty old now. so probably, calculating the PR we see in our toolbars now took place before your links were cached by Google.

Thanks for your response... but the links to my website were cached in google around 1.5 months ago.

The links to my site are permanent links. Do you think in this case I would get a good PR in the next update?

Is that true that the PR values in the toolbar take time to stabalize?

Thanks for your help?

sure takes time to stabilise, jumps back n forth before settling down usually within a week from the time it started. my site jumps up from 5 to 7 - 6 and back to 5 since past 2 updates. same has reoccured this time, and i m back at 5. *grumbling whizkiddo almost decides to switch off the toolbar PR display*

do keep in mind tht many experienced webmasters do not belv in the PR displayed at all , it gives just a rough indication of the real PR (internal) which may be floating etc etc ; thousands of theories abound. conc on gettin ur site in the search results , the pr will follow. even if it doesnt, no difference, is there...

As far as I can see, current PR update relates to sites/pages cached before August. I have two pages, one cached in July, and the other in August. The August page has no PR, while the July page has.

It took me two updates to get PR assigned to a home page because I was using a php redirect on the index.php - just in case you have anyhting like this in place.

Hi I am having a simalur problem with my site. Its been live for 7 months now and I still haven't been given a PR. Also I am using SEO software Dynamic submission. To optimize my keywords. I have a ranking of posision 1 for <a certain 2-word phrase> in google but thats it. No ranking for <the important keywords>. But when I check MSN or yahoo I have good ratings for most of my keywords.

<Sorry, no urls or keywords.

The best thing you can do with the Google PR bar,,,,

Is to ignore it, tis completely useless of any purpose other than self deception

It can take at least 6 months for PR to show on the Toolbar.

If you haven't got any after that, then you are possibly doing something wrong.

Hi g1smd

Is it possible for a web page to get pr2 within 1 month having only 2 incoming links from PR3 sites, all pr's taken from google bar

I have a site where this happened, I was really astonished

Visible toolbar PR is usually a few weeks old when the update comes; so yes, you can.

PR updates to the toolbar don't work with live data. It is usually data that is a couple of months old. For instance, thus far I have not seen any PR update for my pages that were published after July, while some of my pages that were published in June are jumping from PR0 to PR6.

If you started your website in August, I'd be really suprised if you saw much if any PR jump on this go around. You will in all likelihood have to wait for the next PR update to see much change.

As has been pointed out many times, the PR data shown in the Google Toolbar really doesn't reflect reality as it is only a snapshot of data and the real "PageRank" of a webpage that is used in Google's Algo is probably in constant flux.

PR that was added to one site from links put up on July 12th isn't being reflected in the TBPR at this point.

Thank you all... I think I have to wait for another PR update. Since the links pointing to me are permanent, waiting more is not a problem. The only problem is that it is a little difficult to get people link to a PR0 commercial site.

Anyways, Thanx again...

Not a problem. You may want to consider spending some time in the link dev forum. ;)
