Out of the sandbox for new pages, but not old?

I've had an experience that I thought I'd share. Possibly this phenomenon is quite commonplace.

I have a site I started 2 years ago or so. Evidently I did everything wrong with this site. It clearly has been sandboxed. (Yes, I believe in the sandbox.)

I added a new series of pages last month geared towards a competative keyword in my field. Lo and behold these new pages actually rank within the top 20 in Google under both the keyword by itself and also in some two word keyword phrases.

I don't notice a change with this site's other (historic) pages. I'm under the impression they still only rank in Google for some multi-keyword phrases. It's like the old portion of this site is still sandboxed whereas the new content is past the sandbox penalty.

It will be a while before I have more content to post on this site and see how they rank but I think possibly this site has finally turned the corner.

Remove the old pages and put the content on new ones. You might want to merge 2 pages to 1, or split 1 page in 2, to prevent duplicate content.
