Is it bad timing to launch a new design - when I'm climbing the top ten?

When I broke through the top 100 in my category about a month ago, I started planning a newer, cleaner site in anticipation of heavier traffic.

Basically all that's been changed is the color scheme, new banner and minor adjustment to placement of the top banner & introduction. However, due to space constraints, I had to remove a H2 tag around one of my main keywords.

Questions :

- Is this a bad time to launch my new facelift especially since I've just broken through the top ten and am currently at #7?

- I'm a bit concerned about having to remove the H2 tag. Do you think it will affect how G! sees my site and how it ranks me?

With the way things are with Google at this time there's no way to know. Any advice most people can give is pure speculation.

You say you are already in the top ten. Many of us would kill to be in the top ten. So it depends on how much you're willing to risk to move up a bit more.

IMO it might not be wise to make changes now.

I would not make changes either...wait about a month or so to let things calm down (BL Updates, PR Updates, etc.) over at Googledom.

Why remove the H2 tag at all? If that text is still on the page, just use css to style it to the right size and color.

was thinking the same except... how does anyone know when a BL, PR update's gonna take place?
We can only speculate...
