Excluding Google with .htaccess and robots.txt

How will it react

Hi,

I'm thinking of putting a link on my homepage to a split test script.
The script will then send the visitors to one of two pages.

Both the link, script and the two pages will be excluded from googlebot using robots.txt and htaccess.

Is it safe to run a split test this way, or will google still penalize this.

Please shine your light on this.
John

I'm not entirely sure the meaning of BF's comments, but as long as you clearly exclude googlebot from the pages you don't want indexed, there's no danger of them penalizing you.
After all, how can google penalize you for something they should have no knowledge of?
