travelin cat, exactly my case but drop was from July 16th, Gbot visits daily my travel site and all pages indexed again and again but still ex no. 1 serps for years now 3rd to 5th page. PR same though, even increased for some pages, gone up also in Google directory PR. Ranking tops in MSN which sends me around a thousand unique visitors daily which is what keeps me going and not closing the shop.

That is interesting.... we to have great msn placement, but we get very little traffic from them compared to Google.

Here's an interesting discovery... when submitting

and get this... in Yahoo, 7120 links.... and we are banned in Yahoo for some unknown reason... have been since they split off from Google

Off-topic, but we had the same case with one of our sites due to the fact that it had previously been dropped from Inktomi search. A nicely worded reinclusion request to Yahoo got us back in in about 6 weeks (still waiting on antother site we recently acquired).

My site was dropped by G about 2 weeks ago now, getting almost Zero traffic from G, think it has something to do with reseller links to our provider. I am trying something at the moment - will inform if I get results

Quite highly ranked by MSN but very little traffic.

Was banned by Yahoo after the Google split, got back in after lots of pleading emails. Now second biggest supplier of traffic.

I've changed my mind over and over again.

If it's an update, it's rather limited to specific areas. But if it isn't an update it's everflux on steroids. One of my sites is riding the rollercoster between pages 4 and 7 on Google.
(used to be on first page before Bourbon).

Other sites are just shifting a position up or down at a time. Some sub pages have receivied quite a boost though.

Update/Fix - change in serps - everflux - I dont know. But some dcs are stuck in a different state to others - that is fact - and have been for a while.

I still think Google are working on a fix. I just cant see why it is taking so long (but then again I cant see all the ins and outs obviously.)

Similar story here - travel related rock solid top 5 placement over the last 18 months for 600+ pages, 17th Aug all pages are #34 -> #45, PR still in tact

no probs with us at the mo. We have got some serps in teh last week. Think our main site has a lot of authority now. Cannot seem to do any wrong.

It seems to me that the travel sector has been in the spotlight a lot recently. GoogleGuy posted something once about hotel sites just doing the same old stuff as each other and how this has no value. We used to rank very well for specific searches but a few weeks ago got ousted, so we've made some adjustments to try and be more useful to the user. Our more generic positions have not been affected. In the general question of SERP movements I would add that I have seen some small changes, but nothing drastic, and I would also add its about time for another update. Our site rocks, so it can only be good.

An interesting note about our portion of the travel sector, all of the other sites that were around us in the serps are still there.... we just got nailed, I think, because we were in the top serps for over 2 years and G probably wanted to re-fresh the serps... who knows.

I had been holding off making any changes to our pages for fear of offending the Google Gods.... guess it's time to redo the site, they have already been offended.

travelin cat, it is again the same situation with me. More links and pages show in MSN than Google. My 1000 clicks from MSN do not compare with the 10000 clicks I used to get from Google but they convert really well. I still get about 5000 clicks from Google but they do not convert so well as MSN's. Is your site in MSN.uk index? Because that's where I get most of the cash converting referrals. Yahoo also banned me although it shows thousands of links. Tim Mayers of Yahoo wrote to me that my site was banned as a travel site with affiliate links. Actually my site was banned from inktomi before the Yahoo takeover. Lately I emailed to them and pointed out that I can still see scores of travel sites with affiliate links in their index. They did not reply but Yahho Slurp started indexing my site again. It has not returned in their index yet (except for the main page) but i will not be surprised if Iit is back by their next update. There is rumor than they are targeting over 20 billion pages in their index and one way is to get nbanned sites that should not have been banned in the first place back in their index. OK..here is an update ;-)

DCs look like a mixture of several sets of serps. My Google.com (64.233.183.104) at the moment showing old version of my page.

I donīt think its settled yet. I canīt imagine the folks at Google can live with the current situation. Therefore an update is pending.

And talking about an update, I predicted it to start yesterday Friday 26th August.. but unfortunately Googleīs engineers prefered to wait until Monday ;-)

Exactly. And the folks at googleplex keep talking about "improvement of search" ;-)

two of my sites were hit recently, one about 6 weeks ago, it dropped to having 5 pages listed and not showing up anywhere, now it's showing about half it's pages in a site search.

the other vanished completely from the index about 4 weeks ago, now it seems to have reappeared. new pages that were added since it vanished are indexed, but none of the old ones are showing up yet.

I guess this time the folks at the plex have real problems to solve. Take a look at the datacenters and your google.com and see for yourself whatīs going on. Its nothing less than a big mess!

Lets hope tomorrow will ultimately bring an update to bring Google back to normal.

Strange, i have just searched for my domain and it appears 5 pages down, however normally when you search for most domains the domain name will apear and then another page under neath, however mine is the reverse?

My keywords/keyphrases are in english and of course I have no idea how things look like through the datacenters and google.com in other languages.

Not really, some updades had occured at weekend. IMHO after finished new algos, they wait the best strategic day, maybe someone just need "press a button" to begin.
