I have a very simple art gallery type website, which is in its third major revision.

The verst version was online for years and was thoroughly searchable by google (although the rank was quite low).

The second was a temporary redesign, to update the look while I did the major revision. This was online less than a month, but was thoroughly indexed.

The third revision went online a month ago. All the pages EXCEPT for the index page seem to have been indexed by google. New text on this page does not show up in searches. Google shows the page by the old title, and has the old page cached.

This seems strange, since the site is getting crawled on average more than once a week.

There is no funny business on the index page, that I know of ... no flash, dynamic content, or anything that would seem like spam.

The site does happen to be poorly built ... cobbled together with wysiwyg tools. I'm a designer/photographer, not a coder, and my coding friends have been too busy to help!

But I'd be surprised if there was anything uniquely wrong with the home page.

Thoughts?

Thank you,

Paul

Does Google have it indexed as www.domain.com/ perhaps?

Do you link internally to /index.html instead?

If so, then that is the problem. Link to http://www.domain.com/ from every page of your site. Format the URL in the link in exactly that format.
