Would this cause a site penalty?

Having the same anchor text, title & H1 tag on multiple pages?

Evening Folks,

First time poster here...

On one of my sites, around 40% of its pages have the exact same inbound anchor text, title tag, H1 tag and some also the description meta tag.

Would this trigger an over optimization filter?

Thanks,
Jinxed

I would say that you've given Google a very big hurdle to jump. I don't know about incurring any sitewide penalty, per se, but essentially you are saying that 40% of your pages are about the exact same thing. So I would definitely suggest making all that information a lot more granular and precise -- unique to the page. It can only help.

Sorry tedster, I dont think I explained it very well

Each PAGE from those section of pages have the same data in the anchor, title, H1, desciption tags... i.e. Page 1 has only "Blue Widget" for these elements, Page 2 has "Red Widget" etc etc etc
