Another Duplicate Content Question

After seeing this I really am confused!

As I was working on my site's pages to ensure that each and every one has a unique title and description, I happened to notice another site on the web that had by sheer luck the same page with the same title and same description as the one I was working on.

I checked this by doing a site:www.otherdomain.com pagename.html search and found the other site with the same page.

The other domain is not a scraper site because I know the site owner and him and I sell some of the same products and I think we just happened to end up with the same title and description because there isn't a hellva lot one can say about that particular product.

After seeing that domain's product page had the same title etc as mine I figured that my page would not be in the index because of duplicate content.

I checked using the same search as above except inserting my domain name of course and lo and behold my page is also in the index!

So, should I change my title and description even thought my page is also in the index?

I would say, probably, yes.

Add a few words to the description, maybe add one or two words to the title.

Review any ranking changes after a month, and tweak again if necessary.
