Across my sites, Google added about 4 million pages to its index yesterday. A massive spike, like nothing I've ever seen.

Anyone else notice massive jump in pages indexed?

I don't know what's happening, but here's a similar thread from yesterday.

Same here, and also noticed that only the Indexed pages count showing more, couldn't able to see the additional counted pages, Any comments?

We are talking supplementals I guess.

Must be the roll out that MC/GG talked about for supplementals - which was mentioned as being due for completion accross the DCs by the end of August.

Massive increase (almost back up to where we were before the huge drop in May :( ).

But the real question is- have you seen any corresponding increase in traffic? For us- no.

I see supplemental results updated yesterday. Stuff from last August is now gone; in large amounts. The gfe-eh DC was updated a week ago, and those results then spread to many other DCs yesterday. I can't confirm that every DC has been updated but it looks like they might.

New supplemental results have been created for pages that have been recently edited, or have recently gone 404. Those will now hang around for a year. Pay no attention to them.

Look at what you have that is fully indexed. THAT is what is important.
