Has there been any news on the hotlinking issue? If clicking on the "See full-size image" link results in a 403 for google, do you get dropped from the index.
Though I'd like to think this was the answer to our recent 95% loss of image listings, it wouldn't explain why a large number of the site:mysite results are actually pages hotlinking to us unsuccessfully.
