I have noticed on 64.233.187.104 and 64.233.187.99 datacenters Back Links Updated.

I think Google is showing for some sites too much links. You know, Google only showed a few links with that command. Now, I think it's showing more he used to. However, only for some sites.

Is there any logic at all to which links they show and the order they present them? Is there some purpose in apparently randomizing this?

The links shown, AFIK is never complete and often are the least important. G likes to keep us guessing.

Sounds logical. Any idea how soon though? A couple of days ago the index page of one of my sites went from PR5 to PR7 for a few minutes and then reverted to PR5. Was this perhaps a peek behind the curtain?

site: count also seems to be a little wierd, the links looks normal I think, this could be a big one, also maybe against supplemental results problem

I will never understand the links thing. One of my personal sites, which has been up for years, has links to it from all over the planet (including links directly from TV stations, newspapers, radio stations, and the state of michigan's official gov't website, not to mention many michigan cities gov't websites) and no matter what, a link: command will only show the Google Directory (DMOZ) link, and an old forum link. On any data center that I try. Even after countless updates. It's not a question of ranking, because I rank #1 for everything I want to rank for, but I don't understand why none of these links show up in the link: command. If I search on just my domain name, they show up. Beats the heck out of me.

IMHO, it seems a rollback rather than a backlink update. Or, if it is an update, relatively new sites (2-3 months old) do not seem affected.

Checking the backlinks again, I now see that some new links are added (links that are gained after the last update). But, I also see that backlinks of such new sites themselves are not updated. As I said above, two of my sites that are relatively new are not updated.

In my case it's definitely an update and not a rollback.

This "partial" update may also explain why as of today google has shuffled serps a bit. Before seeing anything clearly, we need to wait until the dust settles.

It looks like my bank holiday theory is starting to shows signs of coming true. We've had a Googlebot assault, now we're seeing odd stuff and come Sunday, if I'm right, we'll have something to talk about after the weekend.

Yes - seeing about a 10% increase on backlinks but still way done on what is was at the beginning on August.

Definately an update, I am seeing pages for our sites that we created two weeks ago. PR update will probally accompany this as soon as it spreads to data centers.

Absolutely an update. My 3 month old site's backlink went from 300+ to 900+. hope this spreads and the PR gets doled out soon!

yep, starting to see some pages coming back. Not everything, just some statistical peaks here and there.

When I do a Google link: search for my site's home page, I see hundreds of links from one blog site (since their links are on every page) and hundreds of my site's internal links. Links from other sites are buried here and their in the middle.

Is there a way to filter that and only see one result per domain?
-Or to filter out my site's own internal linking?
-Or, to sort the results so I don't have to root through pages to find all the sites linking in?
