Hi,

I am interested if someone can knows the importance of priority within Google Sitemaps and how these numbers should be spread out (if they need to be spread out. Currently I have my homepage with a 9, the subpages a 8, inner pages updated daily are a 7, and the rest of the pages are a 5 by default. How does this sound?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The point of priority numbers is to allow you to select the priority of pages within your site, which you have done.

Priority is 'relative' - if you set all to 9, they'd be treated all the same, as you would have failed to prioritise any pages over others.

But it does allow you to suggest that new pages, or fast changing pages get added priority, compared to established pages, which could safely be set lower (though I bet no-one ever does!).

I don't think there's any great mysteries involved! :)
