Anybody notice any difference today? I'm seeing results that match my pre July 27th results, but the traffic isn't really there. Must mean it's localized.

all I am seeing huge Googlebot activity, nothing else.

Oh, and I got a scare when site:mydomain.com showed 0 results for a couple of tries, but it went back to normal. Google Sitemaps says that I am kosher too. Still though, now I gotta stay up worried that I hit a DC that "tells the future."

Which datacentre are you talking about? Give us a clue.

Google has 39 active datacentres with different results spread across them...

def. seeing some terms go back to the positions they were at 4 months ago.

Looks like it's all of them according to the Google Datacenter Watch tool.
