Hi,

Has anyone noticed this occurrence or is experiencing the same?
Since May I’ve noticed a big drop in actual visits to my website, but when I look in to the pages that googlebot is pulling the amount of pages appear to be a similar total.

Obviously this is scaring me, none of us like to see less visits from our highest referring search engine’s robot.

These are the possible scenarios that I’ve come up with so far.

1.About a month before May we upgraded our server, now I’ve read somewhere that Gbot will only ask for as many pages in a visit as a server can deliver without stressing it too much. Could this be the reason for less visits but similar page totals being requested?

2.Are Gbots new spidering habits are designed in this way? I remember Mr.Cutts mentioning something about a different way of crawling websites with the new robot that was released.

3.I’m in for a real big shock come the next update and the sites going to get hit.

We have added a huge amount of content over the last few months and I was expecting gbot to increase its visits the new content has been indexed and has entered the SERP’s but no great significance has occurred in the visits.

Looking through my logs, the cache dates and my SERP’s I’m happy with everything so far and all my major landing pages are going ok some better than others but on the whole I’m satisfied that I’m moving in the right direction.

BUT the reduced visits scares me ****less.

Anyone else out there seeing this, I’d appreciate hearing from any one experiencing the same or similar habits from Gbot and maybe then I’ll be able get a full nights sleep with out dreaming about a complete catastrophe.
