Hi

One of our sites has mail.example.com for emails. It is setup on the same IP as www.example.com.
Therefore mail.example.com shows a dupe of www.example.com.

I am a little worried with that, is there something that can be done to prevent dupe content problems? We are not trying to fool Google and certainly don't want them to think so!

Anyone on this?
Should we remove the A record so we don't have a dupplicate or is Google recognize that automatically (which I doubt since they already had trouble with www and non-www).

mail.example.com shows a dupe of www.example.com

Why would that be? Do you mean that www.example.com/page.html resolves to the exact same content as mail.example.com/page.html?

If both url's return the same content, Google would see one of the pages as duplicate contents.

Your best bet would be to do a 301 redirect on either url.

>> Tedster: the server admin says it has to do with A records and that the only solution is to remove it (which makes mail not accessible using URL's) sounds crazy to me that's why I wanted your thoughts.
Should we fire the server admin or what? :)
