301 Redirect to new domain ruined Google rankings

I recently had to move a site from one domain to another. On my top 5 keywords, before the move I had the following rankings:

keyword(s) 1: 3
keyword(s) 2: 1
keyword(s) 3: 1
keyword(s) 4: 1
keyword(s) 5: 1

Google appears to have finally picked up my 301 Redirect for the site. Now my rankings on those same keywords are:

keyword(s) 1: not within top 500
keyword(s) 2: 1
keyword(s) 3: 3
keyword(s) 4: 6
keyword(s) 5: 45

I thought the 301 was supposed to maintain the rankings? Does anyone have any suggestions for how to fix this?

thanks,
fc

It can take up to 3 or 4 months for your rankings to revover. Hang tight and your rankings will eventually recover.

You might try the new verify tool they just created. It might help G to figure out the new mapping.

I'm only a week into a 301 here and have gone from not having the index listed to being relisted, to not listed again, so I can't say it will help for sure.
