Google.com results from within USA vs Rest of world

When I use an IP address from outside the USA I get slightly different results than when I use my IP from within the USA. I used Google.com both times.

I guess it's fair to say that even when you use google.com you will get slightly different results depending on what country you're in, right?

Also, if I'm outside the USA, what is a good way to see what the results look like for people from the USA? Is there a site somewhere that shows google US results for everyone?

Thank you.

Slightly different results? For me, the results vary a lot between Google.com from the US or from somewhere else. I think Google is overexagurating geo-targeting a bit...

Google tries to serve up appropriate serps for each country, especially if its a specific search

I see...

Anyone ever noticed differences between states? Or didn't they go that far?

On Google UK I see far less variation between a local search and a full web search than I would expect.

My locally based site includes a place name which is replicated at least 3 times in New England but on a full web search the results are almost identical to a UK search on the first page.

Yes, often when I am on the phone with a client in a different part of the country, they will see different Google results than I do. And if I query with two different browsers I will sometimes see different results. Once I even thought I saw a difference between my dial-up access and broadband.

Most of the time (but not always) when I get different results from the same machine, I am getting connected to different Google IP addresses.
