Hi All

I have a site on Google which is about 3 years old with lot of pages. The site also has quite a lot of incoming links. Recently I completely changed the site including the structure of the website.

Now its been about 4 months since I changed my site and Google has only indexed about 200 of the new pages, rest of the pages are old and returns a 404, I have put a redirection for some but not all.

I looked at the Google cache and it seems all the old pages were cached in January 2005, that’s one and half years ago. How can I get Google to reindex the full site and drop the old pages. Only way I can think of is to completely switch off the site, so Google thinks the website is no longer available and drops all the pages , after that I switch my site back on. The problem with this is the site might loose lot of rank...

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks

David

request that the bad pages be removed... they will comply
naughty webmaster never should have allwoed this to happen
as far as re-indexing ... check other comments in the forum ... lots of different viewpoints. in my "utopia" this happens without fail by all worthwhile and some not so worthwhile se's ... that's what their business is all about
