I am setting out to eliminate all media and news sites from my life. I waste too much time on them and there are too many negative stories to my liking. I'd rather just not see them.

Occassionally, I stumble upon news.google.com and would like it to redirect to google.com when I stumble upon it. I am running Windows XP and have modified the hosts file to do this task.

I have this working properly with yahoo so that if I go to yahoo.com, www.yahoo.com it will go to search.yahoo.com which doesn't have all the news stuff. However with news.google.com and msn it isn't working.

I've basically done a nslookup for IP addresses to sites I want it to go to and listed them on the left. Can someone tell me a better way of doing what I want or tell me why some of these aren't working?
