I have two websites, the domain name is very similar (one hyphen difference), the new site is two months age with PR5 (but not yet indexed by Google), the old site is two years age with PR5 as well. Should I do a 301 redirect o redirect the old site to the new site? or will it be better if keep the old site (surely I will change the content of old site to avoid duplicate content) and create some links pointing to the old site, thus will able to increase the backlinks of the old site? which way could get my old site indexed by Google faster? Appreciate some advice.

Do you actually have one website or two? If the domain names are virtually identical, and the content is equally identical, then in fact you really only have one site. If that is the case, then don't throw away the old domain, just 301 redirect the new domain to the old.

If you have distinct content on each site, then continue developing both sites separately, always ensuring that they do not copy or adversely affect the other.
