Google alerts unuseable as automatic newsletter

Just tested out this idea

Beside the RSS feeds, I had an idea for more repeatedly visitors.

I thought on a link like sign up for Google Alerts for

site:theme.example.com

But after 3 days test, it seems it's absolut random and has nothing to do with new pages on my site.
