I was hired to operate two sites. One, was a site the company created a couple of years ago, and the other is a site that they bought... which had been in operation for about 6 years.

Using Google Site Maps, I see that the 'purchased' site has information listed for searches in all other countries.

However, the first site I mentioned, only has two (US and Canada).

Do I need to do anything special, or somehow get my site listed with all the other Googles out there? (Google.ca, Google.au, etc.)

Furthermore, how do I know what people are searching for in those other countries? Maybe my site is geared towards search terms not even used in other areas of the world?

If it's going to be helpful to have 'local pages', then that will help getting found in local searches (but not the 'pages from ...' searches).

But it really depends what you are selling; Madonna records are much the same in most countries, you may simply need to localise currency, if you use local ones.

Clothing may need pages for size classifications, etc, etc.

But if there's no 'real' local issues, then don't risk confusing all local visitors, for a small chance of having a few more of them.
