Reuters reports that Penske Media, the parent company of Rolling Stone, Billboard and Variety, has filed a lawsuit against Google. The complaint alleges that Google’s AI-generated “Overviews” pull from Penske’s journalism without permission, diverting traffic away from its sites and undermining the value of its original reporting.

Wouldn't be surprised if they will just settle this out of court for a few million(billion?) and that's that. As it stands, the current administration is going to make sure the big AI companies like Google continue to have the advantage needed to counter the rest of the world's progress in AI.

I doubt Google settles. Now that they have the DOJ on the run, they have no more cares to give. They will run this down and probably counter-sue. This will not have legs, as Google will want to slam this door hard.

Chuckles. Wrong group for right reasons. Penske Media is a darling of one side that is opposite of the current administration. Will have to see if this will be challenged by others (as it will be down the line). But this topic will head more into politics than webmastering and copyright and Creator protections.

Meanwhile, is a sign of the times. Folks don't like having their stuff vacuumed up by bots to homogenize all human creativity.
