Microsoft showed off some forward-looking technologies during a research road show this week, including new ways to protect users from worms and to identify "Web spam."
Search engine spam is directed at the general public that does not know how to search. The best way to avoid spam is to help the general public learn how to search. SE's should use cookies and notice when a person types in a 2 word phrase or less and give them a page that says did you know you could find things easier if you used some of the advanced search tool. Click here to not see this message again. I don't have a problem finding things in Google because I know how to use advanced searches. If I can't find something on Google I won't find it at any other SE and never have.
