Free submission to MSN

Is there such a thing?

All my sites from a few months ago and older are well and truly in MSN (and being clobbered) but I'm wondering how I get new sites in without subscribing to Overture.

Is it simply a matter of linking to them from existing sites and / or getting listed in other indexes and / or directories?

[I have not had the opportunity to test the theory yet - about links - but wondered if anyone else had noticed symptomatic behaviour.]

I just found this in an old post

Thr URL is still active (and it says it goes to Inktomi) but does it do any good to submit with this?

It'll accept the submission, then you'll get to a page that lists bCentral services. A chat screen will pop up with an offer to speak with a sales rep to help you.

You can also submit for MSN through Yahoo's free submit, but there you have to sign in with a username and after submitting one URL you'll be presented with a page describing their other paid services.

Still free, but they're both like a pre-sales warmup.
