Today was my first time checking MSN to see where my site was ranked. I usually spend so much time on google trying to get my site ranked higher there that I ignore other search engines.

I optimized for a specific keyword that pertained to my website last week, and today I rank on the second page for that keyword. Google has not even indexed my site since then! I have been studying SEO for a few months now and finally decided to give some of my new information a try on some of my sites.

So my question for all those who know MSN well. Does my results with MSN mean that when google indexes my site, I might actually be in the top 10 pages for my keyword result? I noticed a very different selection of websites when I typed in those keywords in MSN than what I see in google, but I also noticed the MSN results were a lot more accurate in general.

MSN has been under flux over the last few days. They maybe using the US holiday weekend to test out new filters, or even to roll-out a new algo. Wait until Tuesday to see how the changes shake down. Check your logs too for aggressiveness from MSNBot. It has been hitting our servers very hard.

From my experience I can do a SEO campaign for specific keywords for new sites and it is reflected in MSN very quickly but that is not the case with Google especially if you are using too high a percentage of the same keyphrase in your anchor text, which MSN doesnt seem to mind but it makes Google boot you to the back of the class from my experience. With new sites I do well with on page optimization for Google and crazy good for off page techniques with MSN.

So basically I am saying dont expect your MSN ranking to be reflected in any upcoming Google results.

Hope this is of some use.
