Hello

I have a new ecommerce site geared solely for sales in the USA. The problem is I am doing extremely well with MSN search in their out of country serps.

For example:

On Msn.de two of my highly sought after kewyords are ranked #1 and #3. When I say highly competitive the one ranked 1st is out of approx 5million and the one rank 3rd is out of approx 53million.

Its been this way for approx 2 months. However on MSN.com I am nowhere to be found in the searches for these two keywords which is really hurting my business.

My question is why the big diffference? Do you think eventually MSN.com will catch up provide me with the ranking I deserve?

Has anybody eles encounter such a big difference? Finally can anybody offer me any solutions to get better rankings in the USA on MSN.com?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I'd like to bump this and add a related question to it. I'm wondering if ranking in the "main" MSN search is affected by which country the site is hosted in (if it's a .com site). Does it help to be hosted in the US physically, and would being hosted elsewhere, like in Canada or the UK, have a negative affect on main MSN rankings?

Where is your site physically hosted? Not where the hosting company is located - where the physical location of the server is.

Here is a response I got from one of the members of webmasterworld.

"Search engines use the registration of the IP address block to determine the physical location of the site (it's called geolocation), so I would say that's definitely the problem. The only likely solution is to change hosts".
