Is MSN (the current search, not the preview engine) using an older or limited set of the YST index?

I'm seeing pages in YST that are not in MSN, and they are not PFI or feed pages.

It is very likely that MSN are now having to work with a version of the yah/ink index that is no longer being updated by Yahoo... which means that MSN will now be biting at the bit to launch...

(My humble opinion)

Dixon.

Really? So you think they got a one-time dump?

But wouldn't that mean no new domains/pages could get into MSN Search? That can't be right.

I think MSN may be getting a limited set of YST.

seems like it,

for about a month I was included in yahoo search, and after hours checked msn and was surprised I was in so quickly,
In the last week yahoo put 12 pages of mine in, but only one is in msn..... all 12 is in ATW and AV.

They were getting this until last month (and they still may be for all I know - this month is just conjecture for me) but I know that with the old Looksmart relationship (for the UK directory), Looksmart physically had to dispatch their updated directory by courier each week to Microsoft (who wouldn't/didn't take the feed electronically) so when the relationship ended, MSN simply had the latest version of the directory and no updates.

I understand contracts may have reached their deadlines... now if you were MSN would you renew? and if you were Yahoo would you keep on giving your main competitor the tools of the trade?

Sounds normal, but google stills seems to feed yahoo.... thatīs strange, doing site:http://www.domain.com sites have more pages in, and even banned sites in yahoo shows with all pages.
Suppose Yahoo signed an long contract.

It's using Inktomi results I think.

If memory serves, part of the YST announcement last spring was that current INK PFI customers would continue getting routine spidering for all YST/INK SEs until April 15.

From that announcement, I got the impression that INK would continue to supply SERPs to SEs using INK data for some unannounced period of time. Those SEs could either buy the new YST SERPS or continue buying INK until it was shut down, or until they got their own SE running. I'm uncertain if this is something I heard or something I assumed...
