Microsoft Bcentral - Submit it!

Does this actually submit to anywhere? It seems to imply it is now just a site submission readiness service. I though Submit it! placed you in the MSN results guaranteed - this does NOT seem to happen.

Can anyone clarify?

i think the bsubmit used to be useful for ink, now that msn is splitting into its own search very soon here, it prob does no good anymore.

bCentral used to be an Inktomi PFI partner.

The ceased about the time Overture Site Match came in - but URLs are still included in Inktomi (don't want to alarm anyone).

bCentral also provided a submission service to a variety of other SEs now.

We used bcentral, addpro, and registereverywhere as submission services, and in that order. Bcentral was the hardest and most complicated of all three. The only one that helped us get listed on Hotbot, Ask, and Lycos (as we were already on the rest) was registereverywhere. They even monitor the website for down-time every 15 minutes by robot at no extra cost.

It says in some places "guaranteed placement" but the rep I chatted with there was clear that it wasn't guaranteed ranking.

I was also trying to see if the placement would go in MSN Search and they sort of said it would, but when pressed it looks like it was really going into [sbd.bcentral.com...] - MS's small business directory.

I did use it to try to get a page into the index, knowing full well that it had been over 90 days and it still wasn't showing.

Yes, the more pages did get into the msn search index, some just before I started with bcentral, some right after, and no, the page I wanted to get in is not there. Nor is it in the sbd.

overall, this is quite inconclusive - although it seems like the news is not good.

They may be still getting their act together.

More testing required.
