What will you be up to?

For those that do, what's the plans for the works Christmas party this year?

I ask because our lot - about 30 of us - are jumping on the Eurostar at Waterloo (London) next week, heading through the channel tunnel and popping up in France - Lille, to be precise.

This is different, this is new - it makes a change from the usual festive frolics; it's exciting, I'm actually looking forward to it - traditional Christmas market to rummage around, lots of quaint shops, hopefully, dinner in a brasserie... It has all the makings of a very good time.

So, come one then, what will you be doing for work-related festive cheer?

Although perhaps I will have a party with my Company Secratary and the couple of Shareholders (eg. Comp. Sec = Wife and couple of shareholders = the old folks)

Sad really ;)

This saturday, Glasgow - Trendy bar. Starting around 5:30ish only around 10 people (IT).

There is a whole company night out (top hotel, meal etc) but the IT department are not like everyone else... Sense of humor is different, they act different etc.

Such if life...

We're off to a Jazz club that has just opened in town - haven't been yet but some others that went to the opening said it's pretty nice. France sounds good though! ;)

Actually I was at a night out in Glasgow's West end last Friday evening - Hubbard's Bar for beer and food followed by the Oran Mor.

I organise a night for a crowd of us every year. We all used to work together and we have kept it going, which is good with some guys having parted company as much as ten years ago.

This serves as my xmas "do". (Only problem was the £33 taxi fare home!)

At the risk of causing offense to any northern Uk members ..Lille is the equvalent for french of say Sunderland ..quaint it aint ..
Martine Aubrey even less so :(

If you are doing France for Xmas try Brittany ..we do quaint ( which wont translate exactly although "mignon" ( cute ) when teamed up with "pittoresque" is close to the English meaning ) really well in some parts ..

Like Cornwall crossed with Ireland ..with 25% frenchness :)

I shall be having my do at the Bakehouse in Penzance, Cornwall. Its a Michelin star restaurant. I am only going for the free food and booze and to argue the toss with my boss out of work time ;oP

There will be about 10 of us I expect. Most people won't go because our boss is such a useless, arrogant, ignorant....need i go on.

Office Christmas Party!

I think I will put some mulled wine into the microwave and turn on my santa claus screen saver and have one right now. If at least I had a secretary...

Our office Christmas Party is in two weeks. It's at the boss's home. Kill me now.

I skipped it last year, and I might just do it again this year.

Only been once in my entire working life and thats because I couldnt escape it, my firms one is tonight and I told them flat I aint coming along.

You have to be so careful what you say at these things and after a few.... Well its not worth the bother.

I thought Glasgow's nightlife was better that Edinburgh's?

(Only problem was the £33 taxi fare home!)

I got a taxi from Glasgow to my area on firday and it cost me £15! Getting a taxi on a friday/sat night is murder! Even after twelve the bus fair goes up to £2!

Anyway... heres to a drink in Glasgow :-) who cares about "xmas" :)

I have seen employees scream and shout at the bosses after a few. It is pretty funny, but nothing gets taken seriously, unless you do something with someone you work with... happens EVERY works night out, (Well to me anyway!)

Being self employed, not a lot! But a bunch of similar sole traders in the south of England are musing the possibility of a pub lunch in the New Forest (we have potential participants in Poole, Southampton and the top of the M3)

Like having a senior manager (female) make a pass at you.

Like I say best not to go - I get a bit rowdy (Essex style) when drunk

:o - would like to have seen the expression on her face

Had ours last week - nothing to write home about - except my new colleagues driving style, or lack of. He picked me up to take me there - within 15 minutes we had nearly crashed 5 times! Twice Head on. He stalled it a copule of times and grated through the gears the whole trip. Nil Pwah! Needless to say I got a cab home.

Yep, hard to have an "office Christmas party" when you work alone in your home office. My husband tells me that a bonfire party is happening on our property this Friday, so I think I'll call that my office Christmas party. I won't have to dress up, and I can drink all I want and merely stagger home across the yard. Sounds about perfect. Only problem is, I have no idea who will be at this party.
