- the twang of an elastic band stretched between the hands; I could have been a musician...
- the sound of tea spoon against tea cup; a warming and reviving brew is in hand...
- the clatter of plates being taken from the cupboard; the promise that dinner is being served...
- the pop of a cork being pulled from a bottle of wine; good times to be shared with friends...

I *became* a musician ;-)

what about the feeling you get under a srtong/powerful shower
You don't know how much I miss having a good shower! Our rented place has less of a shower and more of a sprinkler. However at my old mans place they have the Mother, it could fight back a hoard of drunken football fans on the 'low' setting.
Sitting on a thoroughbred at full gallop.
The smell of baking bread.
Sitting around a campfire.
The feel of a well-oiled saddle.
The tug of a fish on the end of your line.
The sound of horses trotting on a dirt road.
Cows lowing at night.
The smell of the woods in early morning, and the sound of dew dripping from the trees.
That puppy smell that lasts only a few months (much like new car scent).
The thawing out period after being outside in a minnesota winter, accompanied by hot cocoa.
Wood crackling in the fireplace on a lazy night.
Post-thanksgiving dinner digesting.
Waking up to sunshine pouring in the window instead of obnoxious alarm.
walking in the door to be swamped with affection, a wagging tail and a wet muzzle.
crawling under a warm comforter on a cold night.
the smell of fresh apple cider heating on the stove
finishing a big project - on time :)
eating fresh carrots from your garden
falling backwards into a BIG pile of fall leaves
When my homemade soup tastes just perfect.
When seeds that I planted put out their very first leaves.
The first day of spring I can put the top down on my convertible.
When I take a "perfect" picture without even trying.
They are all satisfying, but I have to admit, I know why on each and every one of them. ;)
- the dawn chorus; the day starts anew...
- the smell of the kitchen when garlic meets onions in a pan; a feast in the making...
Likely more to come...

Except for the double rainbow over the mountain, and sunset over the Pacific off any place on the northwest coast, and the purring of the newest kitten, and that glance of sunlight through the million shades of green after a rain on the Olympic Peninsula, and the simple act of holding the man you love close - and being held, of course....
And hearing the thunder of wings out from under your feet as the whole covey heads for clear sky.... and watching the white flag of a muley's tail as he heads over a ridge, his rack silhouetted against sundown.... and the song of the bull elk at daylight and sundown.... and waking up in the tent to frost everywhere, grabbing the camera because you KNOW the pines will be wonderland....
Why? I don't know. But it all brings tears....
[Edit: oh.... Christmas morning. Christmas Eve. Opening presents - I never grew up, and I'm never going to! Cooking the perfect meal for people I love. Seeing new country, meeting new people, learning new ways to have fun. Watching it snow.... have you ever seen perfect "starsnow"? It happens here about once every 5 years....]
[[Edit 2: Pachelbel's Canon. The Twelfth of Never. Unchained Melody. ANYTHING Mozart, Strauss, Wagner. My first husband's guitar and banjo riffs - unrecoverable - he's dead, and the recordings are LONG gone. The Walter Farley "Black Stallion" books. The Hardy Boys Mysteries and Nancy Drew (the originals, mind you!) "Pilgrim's Inn" by Elizabeth Goudge. "MacBeth". "Phantom of the Opera". "Memories" from "Cats".
The smell of smoke from the first fire of the season in the fireplace. The smell of leaves burning in the fall. The fragrance of cinnamon and allspice when you're making an apple pie.... Y'all can tell me to shut up any time....]]
Yep. Taking all the rough and worn leather and making it supple again. And saddle soap smells great.
>>triplets
Complex minds enjoy simple pleasures. ;)
Thought I'd add a few more...
Horses nosing your shirt pocket for a bit of apple.
Goats bleating a good morning to the feed bucket.
Watching a good cutting horse work, let alone riding a working cutting horse.
Donkeys that show up at the fence when you rattle a candy wrapper.
The rumble of a well-tuned big block.
Horses that come when you whistle.
A falcon that returns to your arm with a young rabbit.
Watching a child ride a horse for the first time.
Cooking food that you've grown.
The feel of smooth-sanded wood before it is stained.
The smell of freshly cut lumber.
The way your oldest pair of boots fit.
The sound of a rooster announcing dawn.
Watching your two favorite dogs stretch out in front of the fireplace.
The crunch of tires on a gravel driveway.
Digitalghost ..I gotta say tho ..I could live without the "car tires on gravel" ..if they aint friends ..then I chose to live in the countryside cos thats where there are less people and more nature ...
nothin beats having your own woodland ..unless maybe having your own beach ...
Got the first .. :) ..
right upto one side of the house ..
So I'd add .."the sound of the owls that come to sit on my studio roof every night and talk just before they go looking for food" ..
