I purchased an Nvidia Gefore MX 64MB card about a year or so ago. All of a sudden, it gets two hot and the computer then shuts down. Went to the Nvidia site, but it says that support has to come from the PC manufacturer. The only problem is that I purchased it from ComputerGeeks and not a PC manufacturer. So, does Nvidia provide any support for their own products when purchased separately?

Thanks,

Nvidia just sells the boards - you need to contact whomever branded the one you have: PNY, Jaton, Gainward, Abit - the list is endless - normally it will be printed on the board.

Nvidia's card that I had did the same thing and it was caused by the dang driver upgrade. It took me forever to find the problem, but the solution was to get another card. Nvidia never helped or even acknowledged the issue. So you should not expect much help from them.

Doesn't US law require all manufacturers to have all a "reasonable" warranty for their products?

I will be looking in to more information on this. I spend a lot of money on this card. For it to only last a year, is not acceptable by any means.

No - and the manufacturer isn't your issue according to your original post - if you did buy it from ComputerGeeks, contact them:

computergeeks.com/contactus.asp

Maybe they can do something with whomever branded your card - have you determined who that is yet?

I pulled the card out, and it says on the chips on the back of the unit V-data, and on one of the ones on the front of the unit says fastware. Did a search for them via Google, nothing for V-Data, and the only thing for Fastware was a software company by Fujitsu.

Any ideas?

V-data makes memory modules:
asiantech.com/vdata01.htm

Fastware made (makes?) RAMDACS - neither one is what you want - normally it would be in white ink on the board (not the chips) - could be totally unbranded, in which case, your only recourse is ComputerGeeks - what did they say?

Still waiting. Was on hold so long, that I hung up and just sent an e-mail.
