If you haven't read John Masefield's "Sea Fever" you had a poor elementary school education ... and probably still play with cars!

I can not get excited about the plastic ovoids that pass as automobiles these days. How often can you actually drive to the limit of the car and the road? (lawman - everything you say will be ...!) And the traffic is excruciating.

However, flying deeply reefed under a tight jib before force 8 (gale force) winds riding 3 meter waves cresting ten meter North Pacific swells - now that is exhilarating! Speed limits, traffic congestion ... what's that?

Or gliding in utter silence up mirror smooth channels amongst a pod of whales with eagles overhead and bears on the shore and a lady at one's side ...

It's sorta like knowing karate. You don't have to use it, but it feels good knowing you beat everybody else's a$$. ;)

Otherwise, I think you're onto something. :)

you just have to drive in a controlled environment.

I spent last Thursday and Friday at www.millbrook.co.uk hitting speeds which were absolutely sick.

another thing, having a high performance car does not mean you have to break the speed limit.

wonder if there are any other HPC members here?

And of course having a high performance car does not mean you have to shift out of second gear! :)
