The U.S. "Can Spam" law is now in effect, I believe. I haven't seen a single piece of spam that includes a real address as required by the law.

nor will you. Many, many spammers are certain they will never be caught and if they mail from outside the US, than they never will be caught

I just got one in compliance: the address is given as as a box in care of a trust company on the Caribbean Island of St. Kitts. Not even in the U.S. No doubt the "trust company" is a file folder in a lawyer's office.

I got one today that complied (an address in South Carolina), although the rest of the stuff they said was complete bull. I did not sign up with them or one of their partners. The reason I know this for a fact - this email was sent to my dog. My dog's email address has existed for precisely one week. Since her surgery, she's been too sick to spend any time on the computer, so I know she hasn't signed up for any newsletters. Plus, right now she doesn't really care about making millions, she cares about getting Rimadyl regularly.

Also, she seems to be getting a lot of spam for Singles websites. I know she's cute, but really now...

I sometimes consider emailing the company that is "named" as the advertiser in the email. I wonder how many of them know that the list they rented is spam, or that the person they hired/partnered with is sending spam.
