A simple task like buying sandwiches becomes my eternal nightmare. All but one of around 200 sandwiches had flaming mayonnaise on them. The other day I was pleased to see a sandwich that was called “simply chicken”. Fantastic I thought, but out of suspicion I checked the ingredients only to discover that “simply chicken” contains mayonnaise with black pepper. I wrote to the makers and pointed out my problem and their misleading packaging. I got a full apology, £5 and a promise that it would be passed onto their branding dept.

Add to that monkeys at restaurants who successfully omit the mayonnaise only to add coleslaw, which if I am not mistaken is made with f’in mayonnaise.

Anyhow, I don’t expect you to care or for this post to make it onto the front page on WebmasterWorld I just wanted to complain to the world at large

Anyone ever try the deep fried Twinkie?

Ugh... there was a booth at the county fair last night selling fried Twinkies and Snickers bars. That's just wrong. ;)

I headed right to the fried cheese curd booth myself. I think there's a definite market for a poutine booth there, if I could get the equipment together in time for next year... heheh.

Deep Fried Twinkies are great. Deep Fried Oreos are also wonderful. They turn into a brown mushy mess and taste great.

My friends and I were bored one evening so we fired up the deep fryer and started battering and frying nearly anything we could find in the fridge and cupboards: pickles, bananas, cherry pie, various candy bars, Krispy Kremes, apples, hard boiled eggs, mac & cheese, and the list goes on.

there was a big cheese plant near where I grew up, real high quality stuff, kind of a microbrew for cheese.

I heard through the grapevine that one time one of the towers soured.. and the unusable junk was sold to Kraft for some kind of processed "cheese".

how did this become the biggest foo thread I've seen in ages? :) guess us teckies like our food.

Oh, I hate mayonnaise. I just might join that club.

Someone mentioned fried pickles... love them. Dill chips battered and deep fried, with Ranch dressing for dip, and sweet tea to drink. Any others here from the American South?

I'm a condiment freak. I like just about anything you can store on the door in your fridge. Pick-a-peppa, bbq, teriyaki, chili, mustard, mayo, Miracle Whip, hot sauces, etc. Sometimes I think about buying an extra little fridge for the condiments.

ukgimp, aren't you living in the wrong country then? I always thought that the uk is the unofficial home of the mayo. My first and only visit to uk (London & Canterbury) was a 10 days mayo and mint sauce nightmare. urgh ...

That's why i love much more the south european countries (esp. France, Italia) - it's to hot to sell mayo - since mayo is made of eggs (normally), it's dangerous to eat it if it's not kept cool all the time. Therefor you won't find much mayo in southern countries. Ok, you won't find much sandwiches there, too.

>>Oreos are also wonderful

What are oreos, my only knowledge of them are in Every Which way but Loose as the "baboon" likes them.

Mayo is great...

But i especially like the Spanish variation with lots of garlic, Aioli, it's a great dip for bread or deep fried fish
