Step 2: Your body has been traumatized, it needs rest.
Step 3: If you can stomach it, eat something fatty & with lots of calories, like a slice of pizza, pesto pizza, with everything on it.
Step 4: Round about noon or 2 pm, have a bottle of beer- but no more. Then repeat steps 1-3 as needed.
Hangovers come from not knowing your limits. Now that you know it, stay within them. When in a social situation that calls for drinking, a good rule of thumb is to limit hard liquor intake to two servings, then switch to beer from there. Also, try not to drink more than 4 glasses of wine in one evening, try to stick to two.
A doctor claims that the 'hair of the dog' will remove the pain!
I'll tell you what I do and this honestly works ... I promise.
Before I go out with the intentions of drinking a lot - I drink a couple of pints of water, more if I can with two painkillers, when I come home .. worse for wear I drink as much water as I can and take two more painkillers ... the same in the morning - no hangover :) It works

Of course, if you already have the hangover, just drink lots and lots of water and juice, and take vitamins and some aspirin, or whatever painkiller you keep, and go sleep it off.
If you're too nauseated to keep anything down, just keep drinking water, and eating small pieces of toast or crackers until the nausea goes away... then start in with the juice and pills.
I've heard the "don't drink" suggestion works wonders as well... but I can't vouch for it myself. Sounds suspect. ;)
My girlfriend has just informed me that Barocca is a very good cure for hangovers. It's like Alka Selzer, only red. It's all the rage in Oz apparently.
:) Yep. Advil is enough. While you can get rid of the headache and the stomach unease, nothing seems to help as much as a good night's sleep, something I routinely have trouble getting.
Physical exertion seems to help, the problem is that you don't always feel like going out to split a couple of cords of wood after you've been out drinking...
My offsider and I had a bit of a rough night out with a couple of clients to celebrate wrapping up a three year project.
Rolled into work only an hour late... but we were both a bit shakey, so ended up working in shifts.. she took first shift while I got a two hour nap... then she got the afternoon nap while I held the fort. Maybe an hour's billable work all day between us.
fortunately we have a very cool boss.. he just shook his head and bring us each a coffee. *l*
in answer though.. water before, during and after helps, and sleep really helps. Neither of us got enough of either.. hence the need for naps.
