Arrghh!

The threads with my posts in them have dropped 5 places. Those threads at the top are serious spamns with only one post. Now I'm going OK of course but i have looked in other forums too and they are JUST AS BAD! I love WebmasterWorld but something is seriously wrong here... even **** chat forum and Webmaster *** chat is better. I think i will use them now. However when i check WebmasterWorld im my toolbar with the DNS thingo working ok i get COMPLETELY DIFFERENT RESULTS. And i cant find the bloody Cache <frown>

And come to think of it, where is WebmasterWorldguy? I think WebmasterWorld is broken and Brett is running for cover.

If things continue as they are when the index transfers over im gonna jump off a ledge. Ive got 5 babes to support and WebmasterWorld is breaking me financially.

I'm gonna have to give up this game and go back to having a REAL job.

Try putting a msg in those spammy top threads with the link to your threads. That might help.

Thanks sinner.. But wont that trip a spam filter or get me a penalty for cross linking, or maybe a penalty for a link from a bad neighhourhood?

I don't think so. If they are in the index, their TR is not greyed out, so it should not be a problem. But do check out their TR in the results from the Open Threads Project.

> or maybe a penalty for a link from a bad neighhourhood?

I seriously doubt that you would get penalised for this. After all, if there were penalties for this kind of thing then a competitor could go and place the link for you in the hope of getting you thrown out of the index altogether. It's far more likely that WebmasterWorld just ignores such links. If you really want to get back to the top, then your best bet is to write some more top-quality content. Content is king. If you write it, they will come...

Of course, the thing you can do if you want a quick fix is to use the words "Google update" in your thread title. The WebmasterWorld algo LOVES this. It is spam, and you will get kicked out if you do this, but some threads have been known to hang in there at the top for weeks with this technique. So many spammers out there though; as soon as one Google update thread gets spam filtered, another comes along to take its place...

[Edit to add spam technique]

All those treads above you are showing fresh dates. So it's just everflux. Should fix itself in a couple of days.

Have you used the registry hack for your DNS thingo? - that may fix things. I cAnT beLiEve that ww can be serious about your threads not being at the top - jeez, some of the stuff there doesn't even mention your name in the meta-doctype.

AlltheFast have been getting much better at this sort of stuff lately -ww better start learning to like Stockfish - and their gravelax is better than the everflux, dood.

Hang in there.

CONFIRMED www-sj.webmasterworld.com is showing threads from an old index.

www-fi.webmasterworld.com is the same as -sj but slightly different to -en. -en is the same as www2 and www3 but non have showed up on the main webmasterworld.com yet.

<added> Every time I refresh the 'recent posts' the threads seem to change. Im seeing this on every datacenter.

Where's WW guy!?!? HELP

Thx guys, glad its not only me. But why did i deserve this? After all im just someone who left their job because the boss didnt appreciate me and i thought the idea of sitting around in my underwear all day drinking beer and fiddling around with puters and things sounded great. but i became dependent on WebmasterWorld because people would actually listen to me here and wouldnt even know about the massive pimple on my nose. WebmasterWorld is just too big it needs some competition with 80 to 85% of all the webmaster discussion page views (including the referrals from the RSS feed). After all if you take that much market share you are OBLIGATED to make people like me make a living..

Plus i checked the supporters forum and the discussion board result pages (DBRP'S) look far more relevant there. Heck i think that brett is downgrading the DBRP'S here just so we will subscribe to the SUPPORTERS FORUM.. [webmasterworld.com]

My message count doesn't seem to be increasing as quickly as it should. Hell, I should be a senior member now AT LEAST!¬!

Have I been penalised? I think I may have tripped a heavy sarcasm filter... ;)

I bet c*i*o shopped me to webmasterworldguy...

I heard Webmasterworld was going to start charging to post,

the original plan was that you could buy rights to a certain forum, but now they have decided to stop that, and instead it will be per word posted.

furthermore they will be offering their posts to other forums, but you still have to pay for them.

Hi chiyo, I will give you a few hints to do better in the DBRPs

1. Not only the number of posts (PostRank) is important, also the number of bytes. As you can see in message 1 of the Member Post Count Change Coming [webmasterworld.com] thread, the "avg bytes per post" is part of the algo. Also here: content is king.

2. A forum like Foo doesn't help your PostRank. Some members might argue it helps for your Brand/Name recognition.

3. As you could read in another thread, Brett wants to reduce the number of 'orphans' (Unanswered Messages). I expect that starting from the next update, having a lot of 'msg2' postings will help DBRPs. But this will be only one of the factors out of over 100, so it will be hard to spot.

To increase the CTR in the DBRPs, you could think of
1. USE CAPITALS IN THE TITLE.

2. Use a title that is suggestive like:
- Picture of GoogleGuy?
- Is Alexis a secret sponsor of WebmasterWorld?
- Hacking passwords of other members

Use a title that is suggestive like:

- Update! It's on! The real thing! Confirmed!

Update! It's on! The real thing! Confirmed!

I wouldn't do that. You can get penality if a competitor reports it to the spam-moderator.

What I do is sign up for a new member name and hide a link to my site with css. And even if the post gets shot down in flames BAM up comes another one ;)

Is it just me or does anyone else think the supporters forum is full of corrupt moderators?

It's beyond criminal! I have submitted at least 10 times in the past 3 weeks and I still can't get in, yet I see all kinds of other members posting with KW stuffed nick's.

I hate to point fingers but something smells over there.

A member account expires if the it isn't used for some (few months or so). But sometimes you can buy accounts on Ebay of former Members whose account didn't expire yet. At this moment there is even a 'Senior Member' account for sale with more than 5000 posts (sorry no URL allowed at this forum). Ideal to increase your own link popularity.
