Yeah, I know, wierd time for the Gizmo Quiz. Sorry it is so late.

So what does this gizmo [banbots.com] do?

Hint, it's very small. :)

No, it's not a virus or virus detector.

Is it used to spray (or apply) metal coatings such as silver or gold on a base metal?

a tiny tropical drink sans the umbrella?

Seriously: Is it a manufactured thing?

No, it doesn't spray coatings on a base metal.

Yes, it is a tiny tropical drink, j/k. :)

This is cutting edge technology developed in a research laboratory so I wouldn't say it's being mass produced at the moment. I could be wrong though.

Is it some sort of transistor or microchip?

Hint: It's a semiconductor device.

<added>But not a chip.</added>

Must be used with two identical units to enhance patterns for matter/energy conversion for teletransportation. Now only used at the atomic level. Someday will be used to transport people.

Don't ask me how I know; I just do.

The article makes no referance as to the material it is made of, but I would assume it's silicon based.

It's not a tracking device or used inside of the body *now* but who nows what wonders this technology has for the future.

Lawman isn't too far off. :)

Lawman isn't too far off.

Thanks, I'll let my wife know. She believes I'm way off.

Does it have to do with ultrasonic frequencies?

No, it doesn't generate sound.

Who'd hear it? :)

On the other hand, it could be used to transmit sound via a digital signal...hint.

Self-organising Resists for Nanolithography

I only wish I understood what it means...

<add>
used for making high density pillar structures of mesoscopic dimensions.
</add>

<more>
May also be known as quantum pillars or quantum dots.

Quantum dots are small devices that contain a tiny droplet of free electrons. They are fabricated in semiconductor materials and have typical dimensions between nanometres to a few microns. The size and shape of these structures and therefore the number of electrons they contain, can be precisely controlled; a quantum dot can have anything from a single electron to a collection of several thousands.

Is that even close?
