I live in the US myself so this isnt a problem, but I have a friend who lives in the Phillipines that is very interested in joining the lifestyle. Is this possible, or are there any other alternatives for him?

I have seen Filipinos posting on this board, with one asking about banks and length of time checks are received. So it is possible :o)

Hi Rfung, tell your friend that many Filipino publishers are now putting adsense ads on their sites, including me! Given the low cost of living (and equally low wage levels) around here, Adsense revenues for a site that earns $800 per month would be considered by many as 'more than enough' for a small family. People with sites that earn at least $4K per month here can live like a celebrity!

I think my friend tried to register for adsense, but he could not since they ask for the SSN, so what does one put in that case?

With $4k,one could live fairly well just about anywhere in the world. :D

I think if you live outside the U.S., you won't be asked for SSN.

Yes, and I think he has to fill up a form that says he is a non-US publisher with no US activities. I just forgot what it's called. I think he'll get to it when he is asked to provide his tax info.

I am from the Philippines as well. Though I don't earn much, it is enough to pay the utility bills, food, hosting, groceries and other basic needs (I am supporting 2 other people). Adsense has been a really big help!

Hello ever one! its so nice to see pinoys here. I am also new in adsense and i am running two websites of about 5 months old only. First, it took me 4 months to earn $100. Now, i can earn that in one month and hope to increase that in the next months. My problem is that I dont know how to get my payments in the Philippines. :( Moreover, the cost per click in the ads related to the philippines are mostly $0.03 per click. :(

I'm a pinoy too. I joined adsense August last year. I've a lot of friends here in Cebu Philippines who joined adsense. It's great to be an adsense publisher. :)

Are you in the Philippines? does it mean that it is PNB that will remit our bucks here in the Philippines? What is the process?

jcmiras, if you chose to get your check in US $ then just go to your bank and ask about the procedure in depositing a foreign check. It's actually very easy. In my case, my bank is Metrobank, I just sign the check on the back, fill-up a form called Request for Collection and then just give it to them along with the check. You can have the check deposited to your dollar account or peso savings account (they will automatically convert the money to peso if you chose to have it credited to your peso account). It will take about 20 working days or more before the check is cleared.

If you chose to get your check in Peso, then just deposit it to your bank as you normally deposit a local check. It will clear in about 3 days, I guess.

I just deposit it in my East West Bank Dollar Account. It takes 20 to 25 working days to clear the check.

Thanks for the reply "mga p're". Just want you to share your experience on how you claim you bucks. Was it delivered in your house through an ordinary mailman OR what? Do you think it is secure considering that there are so many thieves in our country (like politicians)? On my case i choose Secured Express Delivery. How do you think it will be delivered? How long? thanks guys!

In my experience to my first check, when the postman delivered it to my boarding house, i was not there. The postman didn't leave the mail but only a note that says to get the check in the post office during weekdays 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. I got the check but told the postman that is assigned to my place that whenever there is a mail for me from the google, he will call or text me so that i can pick it up. I am sure that our postal service is also secured. :)

I had receive my FIRST payement from google. The amount is a little bit higher than $100 (since i am only a beginer), according to the check, it is payable to a certain bank here in the Philippines. BUT very unfortunately, that bank is a very big bank and it require a $2000 to open an account. But man, i`m just a low earning employee in the Philippines and i dont have that amount of money yet to open an account. And It only means that i cannot incash my check. What can i do now? can i incash it to other bank? How long can i hold the incashment of my check? Thanks.

Hey try to look for a money changer store and ask them if they encash foreign checks. That is also what I am doing here in Cebu if i will not deposit my google check in the bank. I don't think there is no money changer even one that is not encash foreign checks in your place.

In my case, I had my checks converted into peso, easier for me to deposit the check.

though income is not very good in my case. :(

So far I have resisted the "urge" to build locally-targetted (Philippine-traffic) sites if AdSense is my main revenue generating resource. The amount per click is just too low. Traffic is a lot easier to build but I think we need to give our local traffic several more years to become mature enough for AM purposes (AdSense as well).

All of my revenue earning sites are geared towards Western traffic. So it took me only a few months to get double digit income per day on AdSense. If I concentrated on local traffic, it will probably take me years to get to this level.

I agree, all my websites geared towards local traffic, the income is a few cents per day.

Now Im building a new site that doesn't concentrate on local traffic, hoping it would be better.

Choose your market carefully Kenchix.

Western traffic pays but getting Western traffic is several degrees harder than getting local traffic. In our country, if you have a new and good idea for a site, chances are, you don't have a competitor yet. And you're site will become popular very quickly. Bring this idea on the global arena and chances are there are already dozens, if not hundreds, of established sites you are bound to go up against with.

From my experience, 100 Western uniques will get you more money overall with AdSense than 5k local uniques if you're choice of market is good.

Sticky me if you would like to share more data. =)

Anyway... does anyone of you reside in Philippines right now? It`s already my second check right now but i still have so many problems in cashing it;

Problem no. 1: The check says that the amount is payable to citibank. Does it mean i have to open a dollar account to citibank? men!, it requires me an initial deposit of $2000, I dont have that money right now. Can i incash it to other banks like banco de oro? anyway, that was i am doing right now.

Problem no 2: To open a dollar account (in banco de oro) requires me an initial deposit of $100 but i finally notice that its hard to buy dollars in the Philippines. Can anyone tell me where can i buy dollar just for me to open an account.

Thanks a lot!

What worst? Is there any worst than i have experience? Well, just to make a comparison, i can earn that $2 in just 2-4 clicks in my new website. That is how worst a Philippine targeted adsense. ANYWAY... could anyone answer first my problem that i have posted above.

Hi JCMiras, buying $100 shouldn't be that difficult. Did you inquire with your local banks already? What are their actual requirements? I can buy it from almost all the banks I transact with, because FOREX is one way that they earn money. Just expect to pay a little bit more than the exchange rate you see in the newspapers because you are the one buying.

Yah, i inquire to banco de oro and they say they only sell dollar if i already have a dollar account. It was so funny because it's like a "chicken and egg scenario". Some say i must have a passport but i havent. But i`ve never tried all banks, only a few. Can you recommnend me one?

You can buy dollars from money changers.

Go to Ermita or the money changer in Glorietta and check how much they sell dollars. It will be higher than the current forex rate.

Banks like PNB and BPI also allow you to buy dollars - but you will need to provide documentation as to how you are going to use the money (yeah, it's crazy). I remember a few years ago when I bought dollars - PNB allowed me to buy dollars to pay for my GMAT and TOEFL exams, but refused to sell me dollars when I said it will be used to pay for membership in a music band's fans club LOL.

Better yet, check out OFW relatives and neighbors and buy their dollars :o)
