Running an Image Only Ad Test

Since this now an option, I thought I'd give it a whirl and just added a medium rectangle for images only at the bottom of my pages. I'll see how the day progresses. Anyone else trying it?

I have a third "image only" ad unit. It has thousands of impressions, but I'm certain virtually no ads are ever shown just blank space! I don't know why Adsense is incrementing impressions while there probably are none.

So I wouldn't expect any revenue, but I like to get into these new programs early to take advantage of any early surge of interest my visitors might have. Probably in my case Adsense has nothing to show in the ad, but I wish they wouldn't increment the impression count when nothing is shown. I should write adsense an email but haven't yet. Maybe AA is listening! I also should provide altenate content, but I wonder if it would be shown?
